Nature of Work

Armstrong State University invites applications for an applied behavior analyst to teach and mentor at the undergraduate level. The appointment will begin in August 2017.


The successful candidate will teach Introduction to Psychology, applied behavior analysis (ABA) courses that lead to eligibility to take the Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst examination (i.e., the course sequence approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board), and other courses within the area of expertise of the candidate.


In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will coordinate student ABA internship experiences. Candidates should have experience teaching, or demonstrated ability to teach, and show potential for good departmental citizenship. All candidates should demonstrate a scientific orientation to the discipline.


The Psychology Department resides within the College of Science and Technology. We currently have ten full-time faculty, eleven part-time faculty, and a dedicated office administrator. The Behavior Analysis Certification Board ®, Inc. has approved our four-course sequence as meeting the coursework requirements for eligibility to take the Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) examination. These courses are nested within our bachelor’s degree programs. We offer a Bachelor of Science to prepare students for research-based graduate work and a Bachelor of Arts degree to prepare students for the workplace or applied graduate degree programs. Essential Duties

Teaches 12 credit hours per semester (if hired at the assistant professor rank) or 15 credit hours per semester (if hired at the lecturer rank) which includes Introduction to Psychology, Basic Behavior Principles and Behavior Change, Advanced Behavior Assessment, and Advanced Behavior Change Techniques, and/or Senior Internship for BACB course sequence students. There are potential opportunities to teach other courses within the area of expertise of the candidate.


Carries a service load to support academic goals (e.g., work with the Autism Speak U chapter; student recruitment, student engagement activities) and participates in professional development activities.


Maintains a productive research program that includes undergraduate students as collaborators (Assistant Professor level.)

Minimum Qualifications and Training

Assistant Professor candidates must have a Doctoral degree in psychology, behavior analysis, or other closely related discipline at the time of appointment by August 2017.


Lecturer candidates must have a Master’s degree in psychology, behavior analysis, or other closely related discipline at the time of appointment in August 2017.


Candidates must hold BCBA or BCBA-D credential at the time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications and Training

Candidates with doctoral degrees, applied experience, or online teaching experience.
