Position Summary Information

Nature of Work

The Building Manager is responsible for assisting students, faculty, staff, and administrators using the Armstrong Student Union, Memorial College Center, and exterior plazas. The Student Union and Memorial College Center is a multi-purpose facility including the ballroom, theatre, meeting rooms, conference rooms, and student office spaces. The Building Manager reports to the Manager, Conference and Events.

Essential Duties

Assist with set up and breakdown for events and programs in the Student Union, Memorial College Center, and exterior plazas.


Provide audiovisual support to programs and events taking place in the Armstrong Student Union and Memorial College Center program areas including sound, lights, DVD, and LCD projector.


Assist Student Union users and visitors with general information and troubleshoot problems and issues.


Patrol and monitor the Armstrong Student Union and Memorial College Center.


Notify the director of any damages to equipment or the facilities.


Review room set ups to confirm all equipment and set ups are correct before each meeting and event.


Lock and unlock meeting and conference rooms.


Attend all scheduled trainings and meetings.


Assist with Navigate (new student orientation program.)


Assist with coverage of the Orientation, Civic Engagement and Student Union front office desk answering phones and providing information to the general public and other employees.


Assist with coverage of the Student Union Information Desk.


Other tasks as assigned by the Manager, Conference and Events.

Minimum Qualifications and Training

Currently enrolled Armstrong student.


Ability to pay attention to detail.


Ability to lift 50 lbs.


Able to work individually and as a team.


Must be available to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, semester breaks.

Preferred Qualifications and Training

Completed one semester at Armstrong.


Experience with audio-visual equipment (projectors, lighting and sound systems, etc.)
