Nature of Work

The student will engage in cutting-edge research on the development of new organometallic catalysts for the conversion of small molecules.

Essential Duties

Literature searches, synthetic scheme building, performing chemical reactions with appropriate isolation techniques, utilize modern characterization instrumentation(Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, gas chromatography and mass spectrometry, single crystal X-ray crystallography, analyze and interpret spectroscopic/spectrometric data, prepare written and oral presentations, maintain laboratory space and keep a well-organized laboratory notebook.

Minimum Qualifications and Training

Must have passed Organic Chemistry I (CHEM 2101) with a grade of C or better.

Preferred Qualifications and Training

Chemistry or Biochemistry major preferred who have passed CHEM 2102 and CHEM 2102L with a grade of B or better. Related fields will be considered.
