Position Summary Information

Nature of Work

Some tasks include providing customer service to library patrons, students, staff, and faculty; assisting with computer and printer troubleshooting, performing clerical tasks. Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor/department.

Essential Duties

Answer phone promptly and courteously and either transfer call, take a message or
answer inquiry.
Charge / Discharge circulating books & reserve items.
Arrange discharged items on book trucks in call number order.
Assist patrons with photocopiers.
Place items on ‘Hold’.
Contact patrons by phone for ‘Hold’ and ‘ILL’ items to be picked up.
Empty book drop regularly.
Mail overdue notices to patrons.
Maintain paper and toner in copy machines.
Sensitize books to be shelved in circulating collection.
Shelf-read in assigned areas.
Shelve circulating books.
Shelve journals and reference books.
Assist with equipment circulation at the Media Desk
Accept fines and write receipts.
**Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Training

Must have good telephone communication skills and customer service experience also required. Must check with Financial Aid regarding CWSP eligibility.

Preferred Qualifications and Training

Effective communication (verbal and written), organization, and human relations skills; proficient with Microsoft Applications software, including spreadsheets, database and word processing; successful completion of background investigation prior to employment; ability to work with diverse populations.
