Position Summary Information

Nature of Work

A Resident Assistant (RA) directly reports to his/her Resident Director Graduate Assistant, and/or to his/her Area
Coordinator, and is a key member ofthe residence life team. The RA is an undergraduate or graduate student, who is
assigned to live and work in a campus residential area serving between 45 to 65 students. While RA job
responsibilities vary somewhat according to the characteristics and needs of the different housing areas, the RA is
responsible for creating and maintaining a living environment conducive to the academic success,social engagement
and the emotional well-being of the residents assigned to his or her area. As both a student and a staffmember,the
RA must maintain the careful balance between personal academic responsibilities and the responsibilities of the

Essential Duties

Serve as role model with upholding and enforcing University policies, ensure the overall health and safety of residential student, promote learning throughout the residential areas, serve as a student leader within the residential communities, and contribute to administrative tasks such as office hours, duty rotation, and maintenance request submissions.

Minimum Qualifications and Training

Must have lived on campus for at least one semester and must be willing to continue to live on campus.
