Position Summary Information

Nature of Work

Reporting to the Area Coordinator for Windward Commons and Assistant Director for Housing Operations, desk assistants are responsible for basic clerical and administrative services at the reception desk of Windward Commons. Services provided by desk assistants include, but are not limited to, signing in/out resident visitors, monitoring and reporting students who are not behaving appropriately, checking out/in of equipment and keys, assisting on-call staff in the event of an emergency, and performing other tasks as assigned to assist in the overall general operation of the facility.

Essential Duties

Desk Assistants are responsible for basic clerical and administrative services at the reception desk of Windward Commons. Services provided by desk assistants include, but are not limited to, signing in/out resident visitors, monitoring and reporting students who are not behaving appropriately, checking out/in of equipment and keys, assisting on-call staff in the event of an emergency, and performing other tasks as assigned to assist in the overall general operation of the facility.

Minimum Qualifications and Training

Time management, organization and ability to multi-task.
Positive attitude and good customer service skills.
Serve as a resource to Windward Commons residents in regards to campus services provided and housing and residence life policies enforced
Administrative skills such as answering and referring phone calls, filing, and communicating messages.
Basic computer skills and familiarity with Windows operating system.
Possession of ethical decision-making and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate and enforce housing policies and document when appropriate
Flexibility to work some weekends and night hours as needed
Must be enrolled at Armstrong State University
