Position Summary Information

Nature of Work

Work-Study Student Assistants work in a variety of positions across campus. Departments have varying job descriptions for student employees. Some tasks often include providing customer service to office visitors, staff, and faculty; running errands on campus, tutoring, lab assistance, and performing clerical tasks. Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor/department.

Essential Duties

Assist the Office of Multicultural Affairs and HOLA with daily clerical tasks such as running errands, event planning, phone calls, and first point of contact for students and their families.
Maintain phone calls logs and office supply logs.
Assist with recruitment and tabling of OMA and HOLA during university events such as, but not limited to, Pirate Preview, Celebrate, and Navigate.
Assist in setting up and break down of events.

Minimum Qualifications and Training

Must have a work study award. Must have good telephone communication skills and customer service experience also required.

Preferred Qualifications and Training

Effective communication (verbal and written), organization, and human relations skills; proficient with Microsoft Applications software, including spreadsheets, database and word processing; successful completion of background investigation prior to employment; ability to work with diverse populations.
